Cancelling a share
When you can cancel a share, what the cancellation fee is, how much comes back and what happens to the tanker.
While a tanker is still loading, you can take a share back. The game keeps a fee and returns the rest to your balance at once. This page explains when it works, what it costs and how to do it.
When you can cancel
You can cancel a paid share only while its tanker is Loading: after the first share and before the departure.
- Once the tanker has sailed, or is queued, parked or unloading, you see The tanker has sailed, the share can no longer be cancelled.
- The free share cannot be cancelled: A free share can't be cancelled.
- A share that is already cancelled or settled cannot be cancelled again: This share is already closed.
The fee
Cancelling costs 20% of the share. The fee stays with the game. The rest comes back to your balance immediately, and your history shows the line Share cancelled.
For example, if you cancel a share of 10 🛢️, you get back 10 🛢️ minus 20% of 10 🛢️. The confirmation screen shows the exact numbers before you decide. The fee that counts is the one in force at the moment you cancel.
How to cancel
You can cancel from two places.
From the tanker sheet. This cancels all your paid shares on that tanker.
- Open the tanker's sheet.
- Tap Cancel my share.
- Read the confirmation and decide (see below).
From My positions. This cancels one share.
- Open Routes and then the tab My positions.
- Find the share under Active. While it can be cancelled, its row has the link Cancel my share.
- Tap it and confirm.
The confirmation
A sheet asks Cancel your share? and shows three lines:
| Line | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Your share | The amount you put in |
| Fee | The fee, with its percentage |
| You get back | What comes back to your balance |
- Cancel the share confirms. A short message shows how much was returned.
- Keep my share closes the sheet and changes nothing.
What happens next
- The room is free again. Other captains, or you, can fill it.
- The departure time does not move. The tanker still leaves at the time it had.
- If yours was the last share, the tanker goes back to In port and its timer stops. The next first share starts a new loading period of 6 hours, with the terms in force at that moment.
- The row stays. In My positions the share moves to Settled with the chip Cancelled and three cells: Invested, Returned and Fee.
Good to know
- Old flag. If you changed your flag, you can still cancel a share on your old flag's tanker from My positions, as long as that tanker is loading.
- The list can be a little old. My positions refreshes when you open the app, come back to it, or buy or cancel. Right after a departure the cancel link may still be visible; the game then answers The tanker has sailed, the share can no longer be cancelled.
- Many shares on one tanker. Each share is cancelled with its own request. If you hold many shares on one tanker, the app may stop with Too many attempts. Wait a minute and try again. The shares cancelled before that stay cancelled. After a short wait, cancel the rest.
Note
Weekends do not change anything here. Tankers load and depart on Saturday and Sunday too, so you can cancel while a tanker is loading. See Weekends.
To buy again, see Buying a share.
Ready to sail?
