What is Oil Voyage

Oil Voyage is a game inside Telegram. You sail under the flag of an oil-exporting country, buy a share of a tanker's cargo, and follow the tanker along a real sea route on a world map. When the tanker unloads, you are paid on real daily oil prices. This page explains the idea, what you do in the game, the currencies, and what Oil Voyage is not.

The idea

Oil moves around the world on tankers. In Oil Voyage, every tanker sails a real route from a loading port to a destination port, for example from Houston to Rotterdam. A voyage lasts from 3 days to 36 days, depending on the route.

Each destination port is priced with a real oil benchmark: Brent, Dubai or WTI. Every day the game records the price of each benchmark. This record is called the daily fix.

When a voyage ends, every share on it is paid out in three parts:

1. Your share back. The amount you put in.
2. The base rate. A fixed part of your share for every day at sea: 1% a day on the shortest routes, up to 1.6% a day on the longest. Longer routes pay more per day.
3. The market move. How the destination benchmark moved between the day the tanker departed and the day it arrived. This part can be positive or negative.

A share never pays back less than 90% of what you put in, however far the price falls. So the most a voyage can lose is 10% of the share. The payout page shows the full formula. Here is an example with the current settings and no market move:

What you do

You play in the Mini App, which opens inside Telegram. A typical day looks like this:

• Choose a flag. Your flag decides the crude grade you ship and your routes. You can change it at any time in Profile. See Flags and countries.
• Buy a share. Open a tanker of your flag while it is in port and put some wBarrel into its cargo. The first share starts the loading. The tanker leaves after 6 hours or as soon as it is full. See Buying a share.
• Follow the voyage. Watch the tanker on the map and in My positions. When it unloads, the payout goes to your balance by itself.
• Collect rewards. Claim the daily streak, complete tasks, invite friends through referrals, and climb the leaderboards.
• Grow the world. As more captains join, the shared world level rises and opens new tankers and routes for everyone.

In the game, players are called captains.

The currencies

Oil Voyage has three currencies. Each one has its own job.

You cannot send wBarrel to another player. You cannot buy wDOGE or turn it into wBarrel. Read more in wBarrel and wDOGE and DOGE.

What it is not

Oil Voyage is an entertainment game. Please read these points before you put money in:

• No real oil is bought, sold or shipped. The tankers and the cargo exist only in the game. The game uses public oil prices to calculate the result of a voyage.
• It is not a bank, a broker, an exchange or an investment product.
• wBarrel and wDOGE are in-game units of account. They are not legal tender and not securities.
• Top-ups, exchanges and withdrawals are offered at the operators' discretion. They can have limits, fees, reviews and waiting periods, and they can change.
• Numbers on screen are estimates under the current rules. An expected payout is not a promise.
