Staking

Staking locks part of your wBarrel (🛢️) for a fixed rate. Interest is credited every day. In return, the locked wBarrel cannot be used for voyages or withdrawn until the lock ends and an unlock is paid out. This page explains the terms, so that you can decide whether staking suits you.

The terms

The rate, the minimum and the lock are set by the game's operators. These are the terms right now:

The rate is 10% a month. Each day one thirtieth of it is credited: 0.333% of the locked amount.

How it works

Open Staking from the card in Rewards or in Profile.

Staking

1. Enter an amount, at least 10 🛢️. Only real funds are staked: the bonus balance (the welcome bonus and daily streak rewards) plays in voyages but cannot be staked, so the most you can stake is your balance minus its bonus part. See The frozen part of your balance.
2. Tap the stake button and read the confirmation. It shows the lock and one day of interest.
3. Confirm. The amount leaves your balance at once.

You can add more later with Top up. Every top-up must also be at least 10 🛢️.

Interest

• Interest is credited once a day at 00:00 UTC, on the amount locked at that moment.
• A new stake starts earning at the next 00:00 UTC. That first credit is a full day of interest, whatever the hour you staked.
• Each day's interest is rounded down to 0.000001 🛢️.
• The calculator under the amount field shows what a stake earns per day, per month and per year at the current rate.

Interest waits under To claim until you use it:

• Claim moves all waiting interest to your balance. You can claim at any time.
• Reinvest adds all waiting interest to your stake. It earns from the next 00:00 UTC.
• Auto-reinvest adds each day's interest to the stake as soon as it is credited. It is off by default and works after your first stake.

Interest that waits under To claim does not earn anything itself.

The lock

Your stake is locked for 90 days from your last top-up.

• Every top-up starts the lock again for the whole stake.
• A reinvest, by hand or automatic, does not move the lock.
• The screen shows when the unlock opens.

Unlocking

After the lock ends, you can start an unlock:

1. Tap the unlock button and read the confirmation.
2. Tap Start the unlock, or Keep staking to change your mind.

• An unlock is all or nothing: the whole locked sum leaves the stake.
• The sum stops earning at once and arrives on your balance after 14 days. It earns nothing during that time.
• An unlock cannot be cancelled. You cannot top up or reinvest until it is paid out.
• Interest you have not claimed stays yours, and you can still claim it.

When the unlock is paid out, the bot sends "🔓 Staking payout", if the bot can message you and you have not turned off "Staking" in Notifications. You can then stake again, with a new lock.

Your records

The staking screen shows Locked, To claim and Earned in total, and a history of every staking step. History in Profile shows only the moves of your balance: "Staked", "Staking interest" and "Staking payout after unlock".

Before you stake

• Your wBarrel is not available for a long time. At least 90 days of lock, then 14 days of unlock. A top-up makes the lock start again.
• Timing matters. An unlock started during a day earns nothing for that day, because the sum is no longer locked at 00:00 UTC.
• The rate is set by the operators. If they change it, the new rate applies from the next day. Days already credited keep the rate they were paid at.
• Staking can be paused. Then new stakes and top-ups are refused. Interest, claims and unlocks carry on.
• Fixed is not guaranteed. A fixed rate means the rate does not follow oil prices. It is not a promise that staking will always be offered on the same terms.
